THE 4 C's of Business Success on the Internet!

THE 4 C's of Business Success on the Internet!

*Content* is the delivery on the implied promise that you make to an interested party who comes to your site, opts-in to your ezine or visits your e-pub (electronic publications). If the information that you are providing is not current, relevant, frequent and significant, you aren't likely to get many return visits.

It is important to strike a reasonable balance between your own company news and events and relevant industry related information. So many ezines and websites on the Net today are nothing more than glorified sales literature. Don't get caught in this trap. Give your prospects and customers excellent content, always. If you don't, be assured that your competitors will!

*Community* is the Internet's Golden Rule: **Do unto others as you would have them do unto you** This is an unstated physical law on the Internet. Bottom line, if you support your industry, your industry will support you! If you don't

When you effectively communicate your support of the industry you serve to your potential customers, you leave a lasting impression on several levels. First, you care about more than just your own company. Second, you have a broader knowledge about your industry segment, not just your products and services. Third, you are interested in your customer's ultimate success, not just your own. Zig Zigler put it best when he said, "If you want success, go out and help as many people as you can to succeed!"

*Communication* is the mechanical aspect of the 4 C's. It is primarily concerned with identifying the appropriate mediums to effectively stay-in-touch with your constituents. You have several options to choose from when planning your e-Strategy.

In the Dirt world communication is a two-way street; it's no different in the Cyber world. As a matter of fact, your ability to act on feedback that you receive from customers and prospects is significantly improved online. For example, I recently published an article in an e-Pub called Corporate Media News (www.corporatemedianews.com), an electronic magazine targeted at the corporate communications industry. I noticed a minor error after it was posted. I notified the editor via email and within 5 minutes the problem was corrected. Your ability to make changes, updates and respond to inquiries, on a real-time basis demonstrates your interest in accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness all of which are very important to your customers and prospects. *BEWARE*, along with this increased ability comes the expectation from your customers and prospects for immediate response to their inquiry. This could be reason enough to invest in an auto responder!

*Commerce* is equal in importance to the other three. Beyond website traffic, actually transacting business as a result of your online efforts is the key success measurement of any effective e-Strategy. I am not speaking exclusively here about a shopping cart. A shopping cart is the online functionality which allows a customer to make an automated purchase, generally through the use of a credit card. Some businesses, entire industries in fact, do not lend themselves to this type of commerce. What I am referring to when I say e-Commerce is either transacting business online through whatever means is appropriate (credit card, check or purchase order) or, taking the next step in the sales process.

E-Commerce has been somewhat maligned in the recent past. Several companies failed due in large part to a misinterpretation and misunderstanding of this term. An appropriate application of e-Commerce to your business is dependant on where you are in the Value Chain. What business you are in, and the types of customers you serve will dictate how you actually transact business on the Internet. Striking an effective balance among the 4 C's **Content, Community, Communication and Commerce** will help to guarantee the success of your e-Strategy.

The 3 Must-Dos For F&B PR To Be Culturally Sensitive In The Region

The 3 Must-Dos For F&B PR To Be Culturally Sensitive In The Region

Successful food and beverage (F&B) public relations (PR) goes beyond communicating the best tastes and prices, but a firm understanding of the underlying relations of F&B with culture, language and religion.

The Southeast Asian region is home to a kaleidoscope of cultural differences, and F&B PR professionals have to be sensitive to these differences in order to communicate a brand that successfully resonates with the hearts of the target consumers. Here are the top 3 things PR agents must take care of while doing F&B PR:

Respect The Locals Practices

Every country in the region has different food restrictions due to their cultural differences and religious practices, and this calls for PR professionals to be discerning in knowing what specific types of food would be suitable in each country.

Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism are some key religions in the Southeast Asian region that follow certain dietary guidelines, such as only consuming Halal or (lacto)vegetarian food. As such, in the event of media tastings, PR agents have to be crystal clear about the religious profiles of the target media and their dietary restrictions, if any. This is a critical step that will demonstrate a brands respect and sensitivity for individuals cultural differences and religious practices.

Besides religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds of the target consumers are also important to take note of. For example, there is little or no acceptance of the consumption of exotic meats across many cultures. As such, a Facebook post by a local online grocery store to sell exotic meats like koala sausages and panda meat was considered offensive even for an April Fools joke. The intention of the campaign was to raise awareness on the plight of endangered animals and the perils of illegal animal trafficking. However, the way the campaign was executed was distasteful and ill-judged, as the brand disregarded Singaporeans cultural norms, hence drawing much flak from the locals and the large expat community in the country.

By respecting and catering to the locals cultural and religious practices, PR experts are essentially sending the right brand messages to help achieve mutual respect between both parties that will enable positive rapport building and garner support for the brand.

Know The Festivals

The variety of cultural festivals celebrated in the region, from Chinese New Year to Hari Raya and Christmas, is never a complete celebration without feasting. F&B plays a huge role in these events, and PR agencies should take time to research on the target countrys festivals and incorporate them into the calendar of a F&B brands PR efforts. Given the huge scale of these festivals, there is much potential to leverage on them by planning to coincide a restaurant opening, festive menu launch or special promotions with these celebratory dates. This positions F&B brands to be culturally aware and relevant to their target consumers.

Pay Attention To Language Use

Every culture is embodied by a different language, and with no two languages being the same in terms of meaning and structure, it is essential to pay attention to language use in the culturally diversified Southeast Asia. The same words in different languages may convey a totally different meaning and often this may be overlooked without a professional and astute eye when doing translation work for any publication materials. Especially in F&B PR, where products are meant for consumption, an inappropriate translation will lead to consequential miscommunication of ideas.

What works in one country may not work in another, especially in a culturally and religiously diverse region such as Southeast Asia. Regional PR agencies have to ensure research is done to acquire solid knowledge and understanding of the target locals language and cultural practices. Local PR agencies would be the best bet since they are experts in the local market and culture.

Tennessee Expungement Law

Tennessee Expungement Law

Image source: http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/b0ba602fce04c1ee11486050125b8048ddf8f050/c=205-0-3269-2304&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2017/03/08/TennGroup/Memphis/636245861176562471-03-08-17-mayor-expunged.jpg

Expungement is the legal process where you can officially erase any prior evidence of criminal activity. The rules of expungement vary from state to state. For those charged with a crime or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, it is important to know that Tennessee is one of the most difficult states in which to obtain an expungement. This does not mean it is not worth trying to get one, however.

Getting an expungement in Tennessee is only permissible under certain specific circumstances. Unfortunately, your regular guilty conviction is typically not expungeable. However, if you entered into a post-trial diversion or pre-trial diversion agreement with the district atttorney, and successfully completed the probation period pursuant to the diversion agreement, you are likely eligible to have the charge and conviction expunged. When an expungement occurs, the file concerning your case is physically destroyed. All electronic records are purged as well. In short, your criminal record is completely erased.

The other circumstance where you can expunge your criminal record is where you were charged with a crime, but the crime was later dismissed. It does not matter whether your charge was dismissed in the preliminary hearing stage, due to a motion, like a motion to suppress, or after a jury trial. You have a right as of law to have dismissed charges expunged. Unlike when expunging diversion agreements, the statute detailing Tennessee expungement requirements does not allow for a fee to be charged for the erasure of dismissed criminal charges.

As noted, getting an expungement in Tennessee can be difficult. It is vital that a criminal defense attorney be retained to expunge your criminal record properly. Each charge or conviction you are trying to expunge must be individually expunged. If you have more than one charge or conviction, each case number must be properly located and your full name as you were charged must be used. An expungement attorney can conduct a records search and ensure that there are no dismissed or erasable charges that are missed in the process. Even on the best of days, the Tennessee expungement process can take weeks or months to complete. If you are trying to get a new job or go back to school, it is imperative that your criminal record be expunged right the first time. If the application and order for expungement are improperly drafted, you have to start the process over. This delay could end up being costly.

If you think you are eligible for an expungment in Tennessee, there is no reason to delay. Contact an attorney experienced in Tennessee expungement law and see what your options are. Once a criminal records search is conducted, you will know whether you qualify for an expungement or whether you will have to look into the possibility of getting a governor's pardon.

Telemedicine is an essential component of healthcare reform

Telemedicine is an essential component of healthcare reform

It is clear that most stakeholders in the health industry now support President Obama's view that it is essential that we have substantial healthcare reform, and soon. The arguments around the issue are not whether this should happen, but how and when it will occur. An excellent white paper has just been written on how national telemedicine initiatives are essential to that reform. The whole paper, primarily authored by Rashid Bashshur PhD and Gary Shannon PhD, is available for free download at http://www.liebertonline.com/toc/tmj/0/0.

In brief the paper makes the case that the need for reform stems from long-standing problems in our health system, and demonstrates that the central role of telemedicine derives from an ever-expanding body of research-and experience that attests to its merit in addressing these problems.

The paper notes that "despite the fact that the United States spends more on health care than any other country, both in absolute numbers and on a per capita basis, the health status of Americans ranks relatively low when compared with that of people in other developed nations. Moreover, the general discrepancy between expenditures and health status indicators in the U.S. masks significant differentials among segments of the population, based on socio-economic, geographic, cultural, ethnic and other factors."

The consequence of these factors is that we continue to suffer from inequities in access to health care, inefficiencies in the delivery of care, escalating costs and the prevalence of adverse life styles that exacerbate these problems.

I have just spent been on call over the last weekend working in a major Academic Medical Center Emergency Department managing acutely psychotic patients transferred there as a place of last resort because the only local locked inpatient psychiatric facility was closed to admissions because it was full as a result of major financially driven cuts to local outpatient mental health services. This is the sort of concrete evidence that the American healthcare system is broken, inefficient, disorganized and inequitable.

Why is this relevant? Simply because we must improve our system of care, make it more integrated, and start using electronic healthcare more intelligently and more frequently. Electronic health records represent a means to improving the health care system but are only a partial solution to the problems we face. The practice of telemedicine, where patients are treated by videoconferencing or email in real or asynchronous time, incorporating electronic medical records, is a much better way of working, and allows many of the geographical and cultural inequities we face in health care access to be overcome. The white paper argues effectively and strongly for those involved in planning healthcare reform to take a broad view of the use of health information technology, and to think beyond electronic health records to a time where we will be using telemedicine incorporating electronic health records.

Technology Continues to Shrink

Technology Continues to Shrink

Image source: https://image.slidesharecdn.com/briquettingplantisarecyclingtechnology-140111005719-phpapp02/95/briquetting-plant-is-a-recycling-technology-6-638.jpg?cb=1389401932

For people in the technology world, bigger does not usually mean better. Instead, smaller packages are the expected results from investment and improvements. Computers and consoles have been subjected to skimming down and now projectors are also being produced on a smaller scale.
Electronic gadgets are continually advancing and becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Whilst LCD TV screens are breaking boundaries with growing sizes and higher resolutions, other elements are shrinking. Flat screen TVs are becoming even slimmer and many other products are also shrinking in size.

The most notable example of miniaturisation in recent times would probably be in the portable computer market. Thanks to the manufacturer Asus, laptops have been complimented by netbooks. Although these are not yet quite as powerful as standard laptops, netbooks are growing in popularity for their simplicity. They perform their primary functions extremely well, enabling users to surf the web efficiently and use basic word processing software and such.

The added portability is a bonus even if the loss of functionality and power is a bit of a turn off. Desktop computers have also been influenced by miniaturisation. Acer has already managed to successfully shrink the PC, packing in as much power into them as their standard equivalents. These min machines also double up as living room media centres too.

Another example of a product getting smaller can be seen with games consoles. Sony appeared to start this trend by remodelling their original PlayStation design for the re-launch of the PSOne. This continued with subsequent Sony consoles as the hugely successful PlayStation 2 also reappeared in a thinner format towards the end of its lifecycle. It's fair to assume that the PlayStation 3 will also eventually become smaller as development continues to be invested in it. Portable consoles have also been given this treatment, again Sony changing their PSP for a marginally smaller and lighter version. Nintendo have also given their DS console a similar treatment too.

Projectors are also reducing in size. Optoma has produced a truly outstanding product in the Pico pocket projector. Roughly the size of a modern day mobile phone, this small projector is capable of beaming images from media devices at up to a maximum of 60 inches, roughly 1.5m. The size may seem small in comparison to normal sized projectors, but to be able to render a display of that size is hugely impressive for the size of the projector. The technology involved in making these work is truly incredible. Via a miniature USB connection, you will be able to project images and videos from a mobile phone or video player.

Storage media also hasn't escaped this progression either. SD cards and Sony's Memory Sticks both now come in much smaller sizes. These were developed almost out of necessity as smaller devices required expandable memory such as mobile phones and cameras. Again, cramming the full size functionality into a much smaller space requires a great deal of time and effort.

The progress made in technology is amazing in itself. The fact that manufacturers are able to both increase functionality, yet decrease the space in which they're placed is on another level. In today's society, advancements will continue to be made and it is anticipated that they will also be getting smaller too.

Technology and the Legal Profession - A Perfect Merger

Technology and the Legal Profession - A Perfect Merger

The law offices of yesterday were what are now known as "paper offices". News stories, briefs, testimonies, and attorney billable hours were all recorded and displayed on pieces of paper. In today's digital age, we know that paper systems can cause money, time, and efficiency to be lost. Additional staff must be hired to manage paper documents, to file legal briefs, and to search for and/or catalog evidence. Losing a vital paper means that extra time and money must be spent tracking down a copy. Compiling billable hours by hand is time-consuming. And, paper-based case filing systems require large amounts of storage space to warehouse which is expensive and can require long bouts of human searching to retrieve necessary documents, which is time consuming.

Enter the electronic law firm, the digital courtroom, and the virtual database.

Modern technology has digitized or automated most aspects of paralegal, legal secretary, and attorney job functions. From billing hours to retrieving evidence to filing briefs with a court of law, technology is helping legal professionals to perform an amazing amount of work cheaply and efficiently.

One of the greatest advances in legal work is the increased use of digital entities such as databases, e-mails, message board postings, and text messages as evidence. These types of records are invaluable in quickly enabling legal teams, judges, and juries to see evidence of crimes. Cyber-technology specialists are experts at deciphering and translating electronic records into testimonies and evidence.

Digital evidence can be especially compelling in intellectual property cases, murder cases, and white-collar crime debacles. For example, critical e-mails in the Enron case were used as evidence that the energy giant had partnered with its accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, to produce faulty accounting and auditing records. These e-mails ultimately helped to indict Enron and Arthur Andersen associates in criminal wrongdoing. However, digital evidence has other legal uses, as well. For example, the contents of pop star Michael Jackson's computers were seized for use against him in The People v. Jackson, a case during which he was accused of lewd acts involving children, in 2005.

Technology-based evidence is a great development for expediting trial preparation and procedures. However, technology can be used in law firms on a daily basis, helping to make the daily tasks of paralegals and lawyers easier to complete.

Legal hour tracking and calculation programs allow employees of law firms to partially or fully automate the legal billing process. Paralegals, lawyers, and other legal professionals are often billed for their work on an hourly basis. Therefore, they must itemize the tasks they perform on an hourly basis, as well. Specialized legal billing software allows legal professionals to bill for their hours; these bills might be submitted internally, as well, for payroll, firm budgeting, or accounting purposes.

Another area of legal practice in which technology is an asset is document control. There exist several proprietary legal software packages that streamline the document imaging and preservation processes. Paralegals and lawyers are able to scan paper documents and convert them into electronic files; compile databases of evidence, facts, or statistics; code litigation documents for quicker retrieval -- and in some cases, restore the quality of damaged electronic documents. These document-control programs allow legal professionals to work more efficiently while saving immeasurable amounts of space and, therefore, costs -- by eliminating the need for bulky paper organization and filing systems.

There also exist special software packages to manage cases and litigation. These packages can include features for client interviews, the management of evidence, and the presentation of litigation and case evidence. Some law schools and paralegal training programs instruct students in the ethical uses of these software packages. Law firms are increasingly requiring new hires to be proficient in these types of software.

Electronic filing is another use of technology in the legal profession. Before the advent of electronic filing, firms had to submit hard copies of all documents and evidence to the courts to be used in trial. Now, case materials can be sent to court via e-mail, with many pieces of evidence scanned in or digitized. One drawback is that compliance and system compatibility can be difficult to establish for these programs; however, compliance and compatibility are improving greatly, and will only continue to improve. Legal professionals might have a thorough education in this area of legal technology prior to beginning their legal careers.

Legal research has also been made more efficient by the use of electronic information storage and retrieval systems. Since the Internet became widely available to Americans, legal professionals were able to expedite their research they can request, track, and research documents online. Now, online archives such as LexisNexis act as storehouses for court decisions, news stories, and legal precedents dating back many years. This saves legal professionals time and money by cutting down on trips to courthouses, state departments of records, law libraries, and the like. The use of LexisNexis and similar databases has become an integral part of paralegal and law school educational curricula.

Finally, technology can be an asset in the courtroom, during civil or criminal proceedings. Graphics and slide show programs are available to streamline and enhance court presentations in electronic formats. Attorneys, paralegals, and clients can also present some forms of evidence electronically computers and other electronic devices are being used more often during trials to present the facts of a case.

The advent of technology has provided paralegals, lawyers, and other legal professionals with a vast array of time- and money-saving programs and devices with which to perform work. Because legal professionals are able to access, dispense, and display information faster, they free up their work days and their departmental budgets for other necessities.

Take Security into Your Own Hands and get a HIPAA Risk Assessment

Take Security into Your Own Hands and get a HIPAA Risk Assessment

If your organization handles protected health information, or PHI, The Department of Health and Human Services requires you to conduct a risk analysis as the first step toward implementing safeguards specified in the HIPAA Security Rule, and ultimately achieving HIPAA compliance.

This includes all HIPAA hosting providers.

But what does a risk analysis entail exactly? And what must absolutely be included in your report?

The Health and Human Services Security Standards Guide outlines nine mandatory components of a risk analysis.

Conducting a thorough HIPAA risk assessment is extremely difficult to do yourself, though. You may well want to contract with a HIPAA auditor to help you.

Most people simply dont know where to look, or they end up bypassing things because they dont understand data security.

If the risk analysis is foundational to your security, then you dont want to overlook key elements in the analysis.

There are nine components that healthcare organizations and healthcare-related organizations that store or transmit electronic protected health information must include in their document:

1. Scope of the Analysis

To identify your scope in other words, the areas of your organization you need to secure you have to understand how patient data flows within your organization.

This includes all electronic media your organization uses to create, receive, maintain or transmit ePHI portable media, desktops and networks.

There are four main parts to consider when defining your scope.

Where PHI starts or enters your environment.
What happens to it once its in your system.
Where PHI leaves your entity.
Where the potential or existing leaks are.

2. Data Collection

Below is a list of places to get you started in the documentation of where PHI enters your environment.

Email: How many computers do you use, and who can log on to each of them?
Texts: How many mobile devices are there, and who owns them?
EHR entries: How many staff members are entering in data?
Faxes: How many fax machines do you have?
USPS: How is incoming mail handled?
New patient papers: How many papers are patients required to fill out? Do they do this at the front desk? Examination room? Somewhere else?
Business associate communications: How do business associates communicate with you?
Databases: Do you receive marketing databases of potential patients to contact?

Its not enough to know only where PHI begins. You also need to know where it goes once it enters your environment.

To fully understand what happens to PHI in your environment, you have to record all hardware, software, devices, systems, and data storage locations that touch PHI in any way.

And then what happens when PHI leaves your hands? It is your job to ensure that it is transmitted or destroyed in the most secure way possible.

Once you know all the places where PHI is housed, transmitted, and stored, youll be better able to safeguard those vulnerable places.

Identify and Document Potential Vulnerabilities and Threats

Once you know what happens during the PHI lifecycle, its time to look for the gaps. These gaps create an environment for unsecured PHI to leak in or outside your environment.

The best way to find all possible leaks is to create a PHI flow diagram that documents all the information you found above and lays it out in a graphical format.

Looking at a diagram makes it easier to understand PHI trails and to identify and document anticipated vulnerabilities and threats.

A vulnerability is a flaw in components, procedures, design, implementation, or internal controls. Vulnerabilities can be fixed.

Some examples of vulnerabilities:

Website coded incorrectly
No office security policies
Computer screens in view of public patient waiting areas

A threat is the potential for a person or thing to trigger a vulnerability. Most threats remain out of your control to change, but they must be identified in order to assess the risk.

Some examples of threats:

Geological threats, such as landslides, earthquakes, and floods
Hackers downloading malware onto a system
Actions of workforce members or business associates

Again, even if youre above-average in terms of compliance, you may only have a minimal understanding of vulnerabilities and threats. Its crucial to ask a professional for help with your HIPAA risk assessment.

Assess Current Security Measures

Ask yourself what kind of security measures youre taking to protect your data.

From a technical perspective, this might include any encryption, two-factor authentication, and other security methods put in place by your HIPAA hosting provider.

Since you now understand how PHI flows in your organization, and can better understand your scope. With that understanding, you can identify the vulnerabilities, the likelihood of threat occurrence and the risk.

Determine the Likelihood of Threat Occurrence

Just because there is a threat doesnt mean it will have an impact on you.

For example, an organization in Florida and an organization in New York technically could both be hit by a hurricane. However, the likelihood of a hurricane hitting Florida is a lot higher than New York. So, the Florida-based organizations tornado risk level will be a lot higher than the New York-based organization.

Determine the Potential Impact of Threat Occurrence

What effect would a particular risk you are analyzing have on your organization?

For example, while a patient in the waiting room might accidentally see PHI on a computer screen, it more than likely wont have nearly the impact that a hacker attacking your unsecured Wi-Fi and stealing all your patient data would.

By using either qualitative or quantitative methods, you will need to assess the maximum impact of a data threat to your organization.

Determine the Level of Risk

Risks are the probability that a particular threat will exercise a particular vulnerabilit and the resulting impact on your organization.

According to the HHS, risk is not a single factor or event, but rather it is a combination of factors or events (threats and vulnerabilities) that, if they occur, may have an adverse impact on the organization.

So lets break down the whole vulnerability, threat and risk connection. Heres an example:

Lets say that your system allows weak passwords. The vulnerability is the fact that a weak password is vulnerable to attack. The threat then is that a hacker could easily crack that weak password and break into the system. The risk would be the unprotected PHI in your system.

All risks should be assigned a level and accompanied by a list of corrective actions that would be performed to mitigate risk.

Finalize Documentation

Armed with the prioritized list of all your security problems, its time to start mitigating them. Starting with the top-ranked risks first, identify the security measure that fixes those issues.

Write everything up in an organized document. There is no specific format required, but the HHS does require the analysis in writing.

Technically, once youve documented all the steps youll take, youre done with the risk analysis.

Periodic Review and Updates to the Risk Assessment

Its important to remember that the risk analysis process is never truly done since its ongoing.

One requirement includes conducting a risk analysis on a regular basis. And while the Security Rule doesnt set a required timeline, youll want to conduct another risk analysis whenever your company implements or plans to adopt new technology or business operations.

The bottom line is a risk analysis is foundational to your security. You simply cant be HIPAA compliant without one. If you have any tips youd like to share, were all ears.

We present you with the surveillance system terminology in a brief and concise manner.
AES Automatic Electronic Shutter: It automatically adjusts the shutter speed against the changing brightness levels to get the best possible signal output. High Brightness Levels ->> Increased Shutter Speed Low Brightness Levels ->> Decreased Shutter Speed

AGC Automatic Gain Control: Also known as Automatic Voltage Gain, it boosts the output signal level, regardless of the variation of amplitude in an input signal. The amplification of the signal is achieved with a closed-loop feedback circuit.

Back Light Compensation It shifts the camera focus from the center of the picture to the sides of the picture. This is advantageous in situations where the light source is at the back of the subject; otherwise, the subject would be a big black spot.

CCTV Closed Circuit Television: Customary television primarily used for security and surveillance purposes.

DNR Digital Noise Reduction: When the lighting levels are low, the noise in the picture increases. The 2D and 3D noise reduction suppresses any noise present in the picture and delivers crisp and clear images.

DSP Digital Signal Processor: This is the unit where all the picture modifications like AGC, AES, BLC are processed. DDNS Dynamic Domain Name Server: It is the network service responsible for letting you access your Internet domain to the IP addresses.

ELC Electric Light Control: This is just another name for AES (Automatic Electronic Shutter) and changes the amount of illumination entering into the camera lens by changing the shutter speed. This mechanism helps in achieving quality output in varying lighting conditions.

FPS Frames Per Second: Unit of the frame rate of security cameras and recorders.

H.264 Also known as MPEG-4 AVC, this is an efficient video storage method which reduces the bandwidth requirement in half and improves the video quality.

HDD Hard Disk Drive: Disk Space for storing surveillance footage.

IP Rating This rating indicates the amount of protection against the outside elements. There are two digits in the rating format; the first one tells for protection against solid particles and the second one denote protection against liquids.

IR LED Infrared Light Emitting Diode: Used for illumination in the darkest hours of the night.

PoE Power Over Ethernet: Used in network cameras to supply audio, video, and power -- everything in a single cable!

POS Point of Sale: Also known as POP (Point Of Purchase), it is the video surveillance of the cash desk area.

PTZ Pan Tilt Zoom: Functional in security cameras used for pan (move left or right), tilt (move up and down) and zoom closer or farther in the image.

Remote Access It is the ability to get access to a device, regardless of your location.

Vandalism Violent entry to a house with intended destruction or damage of the property.

Video Surveillance Digitally monitoring and recording all the activity in and around the property.

WDR Wide Dynamic Range: Security cameras with WDR can handle major differences in brightness and contrast. A picture is exposed to different brightness levels and then one main image is digitally composed using the ideally exposed areas.

Wireless System Security systems, which require no wires at all! All the connections are wireless.
